so I want to say something that I think the nursing school application community needs to hear more often because the version of TEAS prep that gets shared publicly is so consistently polished and triumphant that it creates this completely false impression that everyone else is moving through the process smoothly while you are the only one drowning. I was four weeks in, pulling double shifts three days a week and coming home to study anatomy and physiology with whatever was left of me after a day that had already taken most of it. after nearly two weeks of practice scores that refused to move despite every session feeling like genuine effort I just sat down one evening and searched pay someone to take my teas test without a single moment of internal debate about whether that was a reasonable thing to do at 11pm on a Wednesday
the search that came back was the usual mix of things that ranged from transparently not legitimate to polished enough to make you understand exactly why someone in that state of mind keeps reading. I spent longer on those pages than I should have and got further toward a decision than I am comfortable admitting before something practical rather than anything noble pulled me back. nursing programs verify scores, run background checks and scrutinize admissions with a level of detail that makes a fraudulent result not just ethically messy but practically devastating in ways that extend well into the actual program and the career beyond it. once I framed it that clearly the decision unmade itself without me having to summon any discipline I genuinely did not have in that moment
the following morning I made one change that turned out to make more difference than everything I had tried in the previous four weeks combined. stopped treating every section of the exam with identical energy and actually looked at the score breakdown properly for the first time. science and math carry the real weight and I had been spreading myself equally across everything which meant I was making marginal progress across all of it and meaningful progress on none of it. redirected almost everything into those two sections, found a study partner who quizzed me three times a week and built in one complete rest day every week that I had been treating as a luxury I could not afford but turned out to be completely essential. scores started moving within eight days and kept moving all the way to my exam date and I walked in feeling genuinely ready for the first time since the whole process began
